1. What is the average age of the Journey's?
Our travellers are between 35 and 55 however we we take all ages including children! Our journey's are designed for the destination and are geared to like minded travellers. If you are able and willing to travel then just pick the journey that fits your physical activity level. Either way we will accommodate any level just ask us!
2. How fit do I have to be?
Travelling is active from small orientation walks on cobble stone streets to full trekking to Everest base camp. We want you to enjoy your journey and want you on the right trip for you. So please see our activity level to match the best destination for you. Back to Top
3. What type of accommodations do I stay in?
Clean, safe and comfortable is our priority in choosing the right location for a place to lay your head. We try to use boutique style accommodation that are locally run and more personal then the big chain hotels. Some places we may have basic accommodations like home stays or Yurts that are sometimes communal sleeping. All accommodations have private en suites unless other wise specified on the tour.
4. Do I need to pay a single supplement?
No not if you want a roommate. Accommodation are based on twin share basis. So, if you are traveling alone, you will be paired with another traveller in the group of the same sex. Sometimes it works out that the single traveller can end up with a room of their own based on numbers, but if there are odd same sex travellers that are sharing then the single room is rotated through out the tour. This will be at the discretion of the tour leader. If you want to gaurantee your own room then you can pre pay a single supplement to secure a single room through out the tour. Back to Top
5. Can I leave early or change the group itinerary?
No. There are no deviations on group tours, however if you require to leave the trip early and it is approved then any unused services will not be refunded. We price group tours based on a group and when this changes then price changes as well for all passengers. We can tailor make a journey for you if you would like to change one of our group itineraries to suit your wants. Back to Top
6. Can I bring donations like used clothing?
Of course! Anything that you can donate is appreciated. Keep in mind that a lot of things like school supplies can be bought locally, which saves you bringing the excess weight over, plus it supports local businesses. Souvenirs and things unique to your home country are always appreciated – even something as simple as postcards from your home town or pictures of your family. Depending on your trip we can advise you of the best things to bring with you. Please also listen to your tour leader as to when and where to hand out the gifts. Please no candy or money as this just leads to more begging. Back to Top
7. Do your tours include flights?
International airfare is not included in the tour price. Most domestic flights are included in the program price. Back to Top
8. How big are the groups?
We have a maximum of 14 to 16 travellers on our group departure, but the average is less. We feel that with small groups we can provide a more personal experience. Small groups are more flexible and less obtrusive and allow us to follow our sustainable philosophies, especially when travelling in developing countries. Our specialty is customization, so if you have a group already (like families or school groups) or want a more intimate tour (couples or small groups of friends) we can create a journey or you can pick one of our group journeys, to fit your wants, group size and needs. 9. Do you suggest what to bring?
You will be on the move a lot while on tour, we suggest to pack light, soft sided luggage that is easily transportable. Small daypacks are especially useful when hiking for carrying water and snacks. A packing list will be included with your initial documents upon confirming. Back to Top
10. Are airport transfers included in your trips?
Yes as long as you are staying at our start and end hotel an airport arrival and departure transfer are included. Back to Top
11. Can you book hotels before or after the tour if I want to stay longer?
Yes! We can book the start or end hotel for you as long as its confirmed before 60 days prior to departure. If, however the start or end hotel is sold out, we will recommend and arrange another hotel for you. Back to Top
12. Do I need travel medical insurance?
Yes. It is required to have travel emergency travel insurance that covers medical emergency, evacuation and repatriation up to $200,000 USD (or equivalent in other currencies). Your insurance details will be requested no later then 60 days prior. Back to Top
13. Do I need cancellation insurance?
Trip cancellation and interruption insurance is optional, but highly recommended. A comprehensive coverage will put your mind at ease. You do not have to worry about any unforeseen circumstances that could happen at any time. For example you, your travel partner or family member gets ill before you depart this would be covered under your insurance. Back to Top
14. What is not included in the tour price?
International flights, visa fees, airport taxes, extra accommodation, tips for tour leader and drivers, drinks, personal donations and any items of a personal nature.
Meals are often included on treks and excursions, but please refer to individual trip itineraries for details. A recommended food allowance for extra meals not included in the itinerary for each trip will be suggested in the detailed itinerary. Back to Top
15. How much do you suggest for tippng?
We want to make your travels worry free so we have included tipping for porterage, site guides, hotel staff and meals that are included. As mentioned above, tips for the main tour leader and drivers are not included in the tour price. Although it is a common practice in many of the countries we visit, it is entirely at your discretion. For your convenience we have included a tipping suggestion for each trip in the trip itinerary for your reference. Back to Top
16. Do I need a travel visa and if so, can you help me arrange one?
This all depends on your nationality and the country you are travelling to. Visas have to be arranged by the traveller. If you do need a visa you can arrange them yourself through the local consulate or embassy of your destination country or use the services of a visa service. As visa requirements are constantly changing it is very important to get the most up-to-date information. Back to Top
17. What vaccinations are needed for my journey?
It is very important that you seek the advice of a qualified medical professional to receive the most accurate and up-to-date travel health information for the region you will be visiting. We suggest your family doctor or a specialist from a Travel Health clinic. Back to Top
18. What type of meals will be included?
We feel that food is a big part of the travelling experience and we try hard to give you a tasty experience where ever we can. Breakfasts are mostly in the hotels, however depending on the group and place we could experience a local breakfast. Lunches are in a local restaurant and dinners, if included, usually will be in a local restaurant or hotel. When we eat out we choose clean safe places where there is a selection of dishes so we can have a taste of everything.
19. Do I need a medical form signed by a doctor?
If you are over 70 years old then yes you will need to submit a medical form signed by your doctor. Back to Top
