Terms and Conditions

Please note that it is essential to read and understand the following terms and conditions, it is a contract between you and Walkabout Journeys. By confirming your booking with a deposit you acknowledge that you have read and agreed to the terms and conditions. Also, please ensure you have read and understood the itinerary and the style of travel that you have confirmed.

These are the terms and conditions governing the relationship between Walkabout Journeys "The Company" and you, hereinafter referred to as “The client”.

1. BOOKING AND DEPOSITS
  Bookings shall be confirmed in writing via email. Bookings shall be considered confirmed only when a deposit of 500 USD (equivalent tour currency in which quote has been confirmed in) per person is paid and received by Walkabout Journeys. If the booking is made 100 days or less prior to departure, full payment is required. Non group Walkabout Journeys may require a higher deposit at time of booking. Payments are to be made by wire transfer.

  Final payment is due 100 days prior to the trip departure date. Confirmation will be sent in writing by Walkabout Journeys to the client by email along with an invoice. If payment is not received within 100 days of tour departure date, the booking will be considered cancelled and cancellation conditions will apply.

2. CANCELLATION BY THE CLIENT
  Any cancellation of a reservation must be in writing, by e-mail and shall only be effective upon its receipt and acknowledgment by Walkabout Journeys. The following fees will be applied for cancellations:

  100 days prior to departure: Non refundable deposit.
  99 to 30 days prior to departure: 50% of tour price non refundable.
  29 days prior to departure and no shows: 100% of the total tour package non refundable.

3. CANCELLATION BY THE COMPANY
  Walkabout Journeys reserves the right to cancel any trip before it is guaranteed to run, but will not cancel a trip less than 30 days prior to the departure date except for the “Force Majeure”, unforeseen circumstances beyond the company’s control, or the minimum number for a tour to run has not been reached on set departures which is not guaranteed.

In the case of “Force Majeure” or unforeseen circumstances beyond the companies control, Walkabout Journeys will inform the client as soon as possible of a cancellation. If the minimum number of people to run the tour has not been reached and its not guaranteed, clients will be notified no later than 60 days prior to the trip departure date and a full refund on the land arrangements will be given. The company is not responsible for any incidental expenses that the client may have incurred as a result of the booking such as visas, vaccinations, non-refundable flights or loss of enjoyment, etc. 

Please note that refunds will not be given for the following:

Lost travel time or substitution of facilities.
Presence of circumstances beyond company’s control which requires alternative arrangements be made to ensure the safety and enjoyment of your tour.
Unused services for any accommodation, activity or tour segment.
Premature contract termination.

4. FLEXIBILITY
  The client acknowledges that the nature of adventure travel requires flexibility and should allow for change. It is understood that the route, schedules, itineraries, amenities and mode of transport may be subject to alteration without prior notice due to local circumstances or events, which may include sickness or mechanical breakdown, flight cancellations, strikes, events emanating from political disputes, entry or border difficulties, climate and other unpredictable circumstances.

5. RISK
  Walkabout Journeys and its owners, directors, management staff, service partners and employees including sub-contracted or local operators and their employees, shall not be held responsible for any injury or death to persons on tour, nor for loss or damage to personal property, however they may be caused. It is the clients sole responsibility to obtain appropriate medical advice as to medication, immunization, and whether or not you are fit enough to undertake the trip, prior to departure. Walkabout Journeys shall not be liable for illness, injury or death sustained whilst visiting the properties owned and managed by Walkabout Journeys or their partners. 

6. LOCAL CONDITIONS
  The client acknowledges that she/he will be visiting places where the political, cultural and attributes present certain risks, dangers and physical challenges greater than those present in our daily lives. By booking with Walkabout Journeys, the client acknowledges that she/he has considered the potential risks, dangers and challenges, and expressly assumes the risks attendant to such travel conditions. The client is solely responsible for acquainting her/himself with the customs, weather conditions, physical challenges and laws in effect at each stop along the itinerary, and is encouraged to locate or make contact prior to embarkation with his/her local embassy or consulate in each destination.

7. FORCE MAJEURE
  “Force Majeure “ means, in relation to Walkabout Journeys, any circumstances beyond the control of Walkabout Journeys (including and without limitation to, acts of God, explosions, floods, tempests, fires, accidents, war or threat of war, sabotage, terrorist attack, insurrection, civil disturbance or requisition, sickness, quarantine, government intervention, weather conditions or other outwards occurrences) If Walkabout Journeys is affected by force majeure it shall notify the client of the nature and extent thereof.

  Walkabout Journeys shall not be deemed to be in breach of these items and conditions or otherwise be liable to the client, by reason of delay in performance or by non-performance of any of its obligations here under to the extent that any such delay or non-performance is due to any force majeure.

  If Walkabout Journeys is affected by force majeure it shall be entitled to, and may at its sole and absolute discretion, vary or cancel any reservations or cancel any reservation or arrangement in relation to the visits. Payment of any refund by the company to the client as result of the non-performance of any company shall use its reasonable endeavors to reimburse the client where possible. However, Walkabout Journeys shall be entitled to deduct from any refund recoverable to the reasonable actual and potential costs to Walkabout Journey of the force majeure.

8. INSURANCE
  It is mandatory that all clients obtain travel medical insurance while traveling with Walkabout Journeys and this insurance must cover personal injury, medical expenses, repatriation expenses, and evacuation expenses. The client must provide proof of travel medical insurance purchase and adequate coverage as per the required amounts above to Walkabout Journeys prior to departure. It is strongly recommended the coverage be extended to include cancellation, curtailment, loss of belongings and all other expenses which might arise as a result of loss, damage, injury, delay or inconvenience occurring to the client. Walkabout Journeys cannot accept responsibility for and in no event shall be liable for loss or damage of valuables or other articles left in or on facilities used by Walkabout Journeys such as hotels, vehicles, or any other mode of transportation.

9. DISPUTES
  If the client has any cause of complaints while travelling, you must immediately bring it to the attention of an Walkabout Journeys representative or agent who will attempt to resolve the situation. If no resolution is found, the client must submit the complaint in writing via email to Walkabout Journeys outlining the complaint/dispute no more than 30 days after the tour has ended.

10. CONSENT
  The payment of the deposit or any other partial payment for a reservation constitutes consent to all provisions of the Terms and Conditions. The terms under which you agree to make the reservation cannot be changed or amended unless this is done in writing and signed by an authorized staff of Walkabout Journeys. All decisions and matters subject to the company’s discretion shall be by authorized officer of the company.

11. CURRENCY
The prices quoted by the Company are in US Dollars.

12.MEALS
Some trips include meals specified in the itinerary. These are noted in the detailed itinerary as: B (breakfast), L (lunch), and D (dinner). All other meals are the responsibility of the Client.

13. UNUSED SERVICES
There will be no discounts or monies refunded for missed or unused services, this includes voluntary or involuntary termination/departure from tour, i.e. Sickness, death of a family member, etc.

14. PRICES AND SURCHARGES
The Company reserves the right to impose surcharges (price increases) up to 60 days before departure due to unfavorable changes in exchange rates, increases in air fares or other transportation/fuel costs, increases in local operator costs, taxes, or if government action should require us to do so. If any surcharge results in an increase of more than 10% of the tour cost, excluding insurance premiums, the Client may cancel the booking within 14 days of notification of the surcharge and obtain a full refund of all monies paid (except for flights, trains and any permits if already purchased). Cancellation requests must be received in writing and acknowledged by Walkabout Journeys.

15. WEBSITE AND BROCHURE VALIDITY
The prices on our website and on printed materials are based on airfares, exchange rates and costs in effect at time of printing or posting to our website. Walkabout Journeys reserves the right to alter prices for new bookings if these rates change.

16. AUTHORITY
At all times the decision of the Company’s tour leader or representative will be final on all matters likely to endanger the safety and well being of the tour. The Client must agree to abide by the authority of the tour leader or Company representative, who represents the Company, while on tour. The Client must at all times abide by the laws, customs, foreign exchange and drug regulations of all countries visited. If the Client is affected by any condition, medical or otherwise, that might affect other Client’s enjoyment of the tour, the Client must advise the Company at the time of booking. If the Client fails to comply with the above or commit any illegal act when on the tour or, if in the opinion of the tour leader, the Client’s behavior is causing or is likely to cause danger, distress or annoyance to others we may terminate that Client’s travel arrangements without any liability on the Company’s part and the Client will not be entitled to any refund for unused or missed services of costs incurred resulting from the termination of the travel arrangements.

17. SUPPLIERS CONDITIONS
Airlines, railways, coach and shipping companies and other suppliers have their own booking conditions or conditions of carriage, and you will be bound by these as far as the relevant transport provider or supplier is concerned. Some of these conditions may limit or exclude liability on the part of the relevant transport provider or other supplier, and they are often also subject to various international conventions. Where relevant, copies of such conditions may be available for inspection at our offices, or at the offices of the relevant supplier.

18. ACTIVITIES THAT ARE NOT INCLUDED IN TOUR PRICE
The Client hereby releases the Company from all claims and causes of action arising from any damages, loss of enjoyment, inconvenience, or injuries related to the quality of such products not included in the tour price.

19. SEVERABILITY
In the event that any term or condition contained herein is unenforceable or void by operation of law or as being against public policy or for any other reason then such term or condition shall be deemed to be severed from this Agreement or amended accordingly only to such extent necessary to allow all remaining Terms and Conditions to survive and continue as binding.

20. SUCCESSORS AND ASSIGNS
These Terms and Conditions shall insure to the benefit of and be binding upon the Company and the Client and their respective heirs, legal personal representatives, successors and assigns.

21. ERROR AND OMISSIONS
Although the Company has made a concerted attempt to verify the accuracy of statements made herein and the Company cannot be held responsible for any error, omission or unintentional misrepresentation that may appear on the Company website or promotional materials.

22. PRIVACY POLICY
We will provide your personal information, as well as any personal information you provide in relation to the persons whose travel arrangements have been requested by you, to suppliers and carriers to enable the operation of the services requested by you. We do our utmost to protect your personal information.

23. MARKETING
The Client consents to Walkabout Journeys using photos or videos that that were taken during the trip that may contain or feature the Client in part or in whole for advertising and promotional purposes. The Client acknowledges that they consent to any such pictures being taken and hereby grants a perpetual, royalty-free, worldwide, irrevocable license to Walkabout Journeys to reproduce for any purpose whatsoever (including marketing and promotions), in any medium whatsoever, whether currently known or hereinafter devised, without any further obligation to the Client or compensation payable to such Client.

24. INCA TRAIL REQUIREMENTS (For Trips in Peru)
In order to travel on or participate in any Product which involves passage on the Inca Trail in Peru, Clients must provide complete details as requested by Walkabout Journeys to obtain any requisite Inca Trail permits, which information shall include the Client(s)’ full name and passport number and expiry date, as appearing in the passport that the Client will be traveling with, as well as the Client’s date of birth and nationality. Any inaccuracies or failure to provide complete information with respect to Inca Trail permits may result in failure to secure such Inca Trail permit. Walkabout Journeys will not be held responsible for any fees levied on the Client as a result of inaccuracies, late, misplaced, or otherwise incomplete or ineligible applications for Inca Trail permits resulting from the information provided by the Client.

25. TRAVEL DOCUMENTS

It is your responsibility to obtain information and to have in your possession all the required documentation and identification required for entry, departure and travel to each country or region. This includes a valid passport and all travel documents required by the relevant governmental authorities including all visas, permits and certificates (including but not limited to vaccination or medical certificates) and insurance policies. You must have a passport that is valid 6 months after the last date of travel with Walkabout Journeys as set out on your itinerary. You accept full responsibility for obtaining all such documents, visas and permits prior to the start of the journey, and you are solely responsible for the full amount of costs incurred as a result of missing or defective documentation. You agree that you are responsible for the full amount of any loss or expense incurred by the Tour Operator that is a direct result of your failure to secure or be in possession of proper travel documentation. The Walkabout Journeys does not provide advice on travel documents and makes no representations or warranties as to the accuracy or completeness of any information provided on visas, vaccinations, climate, clothing, baggage, or special equipment and you agree that Walkabout Journeys is not responsible for any errors or omissions in this information.

By booking a tour with Walkabout Journeys, you are agreeing to these Terms and Conditions.
